{"id":1238,"date":"2022-08-15T18:47:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-15T17:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1238"},"modified":"2023-08-07T19:04:29","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T18:04:29","slug":"international-shrimpers-week-isw-scotland-june-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1238","title":{"rendered":"International Shrimpers Week (ISW) Scotland June 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>SKYLARK<\/strong>, skippered by John with Geff as crew, joined the ISW rally based from <strong>Largs<\/strong>, in <strong>Scotland<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1444\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1444\"><strong>A description of this trip formed the basis of the presentation given by Geff at the September meeting<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Hence this post will for the moment only a short synopsis to hopefuly ensure your attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1247 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/DSCF0058-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"257\" height=\"151\" \/>SKYLARK<\/strong> was towed over 500 miles on July 19th to <strong>Largs<\/strong> in <strong>Scotland<\/strong> to join another 30+ <strong>Shrimpers<\/strong> for the rally,.some\u00a0 had already been in the vicinity sailing for a few weeks before. We arrived late Sunday night where we stayed at a local B&amp;B and arranged for <strong>SKYLARK<\/strong> to be hoisted into the Marina the following morning<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1248 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/DSCF0100-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/DSCF0100-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/DSCF0100-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/DSCF0100-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/DSCF0100-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/DSCF0100-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/DSCF0100-500x281.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>SKYLARK<\/strong> was then taken out for a shakedown trip for the rest of the day to <strong>Little Cumbrae<\/strong> to check all the re-masting and rigging etc had been performed correctly. In the evening there was a group meal at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nardinis.co.uk\/\"><strong>NARDINI&#8217;s OF LARGS<\/strong><\/a>, Scotland&#8217;s most famous cafe, restaurant &amp; ice cream parlour re-opened in December of 2008 following a multi million pound refurbishment that has seen the landmark <a href=\"https:\/\/nardinis.co.uk\/\"><strong>Art Deco building<\/strong><\/a> restored to its past glory<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"attachment_1174\" style=\"width: 146px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1174\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1174\" src=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG-20220622-WA0006-SOCA-Flag-e1660756459297-136x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"136\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG-20220622-WA0006-SOCA-Flag-e1660756459297-136x300.jpg 136w, https:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG-20220622-WA0006-SOCA-Flag-e1660756459297.jpg 377w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 136px) 100vw, 136px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1174\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SKYLARK flying SOCA Flag.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The next day, Tuesday,&nbsp; was the first official day of the rally and consisted of sailing Sailing around <strong>Little<\/strong> and <strong>Great Cumbrae<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday the fleet set out sailing across the <strong>Firth of Clyde<\/strong>, passing <a href=\"https:\/\/waverleyexcursions.co.uk\/\"><strong>PS Waverley<\/strong> <\/a>on the way. whilst continuing onto the marina at&nbsp; <strong>Port Bannatyne <\/strong>on&nbsp; the <strong>Island of Bute<\/strong>, just north of <strong>Rothesay<\/strong>, where a few of the <strong>Shrimpers<\/strong> choose to berth for the night. The return trip then returned to <strong>Rothesay<\/strong> to pick up passengers and then onto to <strong>Greenock<\/strong> where she berthed with difficulty due to the offshore wind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The weather was only beginning to improve so we joined a few of the others and decided to start the journey home the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?page_id=198\">More details, with lots more photos, were presented at the September meeting.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SKYLARK, skippered by John with Geff as crew, joined the ISW rally based from Largs, in Scotland.
