AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong data-rich-text-format-boundary=\"true\">SOCA&nbsp;2023 Annual Review &amp; AGM&nbsp;<\/strong>was held on<br data-rich-text-line-break=\"true\">Thursday 10th March&nbsp;at <a href=\"http:\/\/Branch Detail | Royal Naval Association(opens in a new tab) royal-naval-association.co.uk\/branches\/no-06-area\/welwyn-garden-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RNA Welwyn Garden City<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Despite the atrocious weather the club managed to successfully hold the 2023 AGM which was a relaxed, social evening which gave the retiring Commodore the chance to look back at the past year and for the new Commodore to discuss plans for the next season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-12952 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DSCF0001-253x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"139\" height=\"162\"><br><br>The meeting commenced with the Commodore&#8217;s review of the past year followed by the presentation of the club&#8217;s trophies.<br>Below are extracts from f the slides used by the Commodore for his review of the year.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">&#8220;Talks \/ Presentations&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>May<\/strong><\/span> Stewart Warren presented \u201c<b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=992\">Three Men in a Boat<\/a><\/b>\u201c. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-999 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/May-Meeting-3-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/>A retro talk using SLIDES of a trip from Portugal to Tenerife in the last century (1990s).<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">September <\/span><\/strong>Geff Briant presented <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1238\">ISW<\/a><\/b> <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1238\">Shrimpers Rally in Scotland<\/a><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1238\">.<\/a><br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-13551 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Skylark-with-Flag-180x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"123\" height=\"198\" \/><br \/><br \/>John Gardener &amp; Quiz Events&#8221;<br \/>\n\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>April<\/strong><\/span> <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=728\">SOCA Fitting Out Lunch<\/a><\/b><b> <\/b>at<b> the Crown Aston End.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>April<\/strong> <\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1044\">QUIZ NIGHT<\/a><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1044\">.<\/a> Started with a paper\/oral based <b>Quiz (Nautical based)<\/b> followed by a group discussion on <b>planned sailing\/boating for the 2022 season<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>June<\/strong><\/span> <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1116\">Fish &amp; Chip Night June<\/a><\/b> Social at RNA Included a group quiz on \u201cNight Lights\u201d<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>July<\/strong><\/span> <b>Social <\/b>at RNA Welwyn Garden City<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>August<\/strong><\/span> A social evening held at Tanya and Stewart\u2019s house. The food provided by Stewart and Tanya was much appreciated by all.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>November<\/strong><\/span> <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1841\">The 2022 laying up lunch <\/a><\/b>was held at The Chequers, Bragbury End.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>December<\/strong><\/span> <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socasailing.org.uk\/?p=1913\">SOCA 2022 Photo Competition<\/a><\/b> Winners were <b>Terry, George, Paul, Tanya, Stewart <\/b>&amp; Then the minutes of the 2022 AGM  and the Treasurer&#8217;s report were approved . <br><br>Then the officers for 2023 were elected.<\/p>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>The new&nbsp;
