SOCA 2024 Annual Review & AGM <\/strong>was held on Thursday 14th<\/sup> March<\/strong> at RNA Welwyn Garden City<\/a><\/p>\n

Andrew 2023-24 Commodore<\/p><\/div>\n

Despite some technical issues (with sound quality) when we tried to conduct a joint, in person and ZOOM, meeting the club did eventually manage to successfully hod the 2024 AGM<\/strong> which again was a relaxed, social evening which gave the retiring Commodore, Andrew, the chance to look back at the past year and for the new Commodore to discuss plans for the next season.<\/p>\n

Commodore\u2019s Report<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Various discussions took place between Committee members of SOCA<\/strong> and BOSG<\/strong> during the year. The outcome was that the existing BOSG<\/strong> members joined SOCA<\/strong> on mass as Country members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/b>January:- <\/b> \u201cCrossing the <\/a><\/i><\/b>Biscay<\/a>
<\/i><\/b>February. <\/b>Shrimper<\/a><\/b>\u2018s East Coast Rally 2023<\/a><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

April<\/b> SOCA Fitting Out Lunch
<\/b>June,<\/b> An informal drinks and chat at the RNA in Welwyn Garden City.
July. <\/b>A walk followed by a meal at Stewart and Tanya\u2019s.
August. <\/b>Summer<\/b> BBQ<\/b> at Richard and Norma’s house.
September. <\/b>Due to technical issues the planned presentation was moved to the October meeting. In its place the attendees held a social at the RNA.
November. <\/b> 2023 Laying Up Lunch<\/a><\/b>
December. <\/b>SOCA 2023 Photo Competition<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sailing in Company<\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

May Sailing Weekend (East Coast).<\/b>
Spring Bank Holiday cruise held in conjunction with NOSCA<\/b> on the East Coast with dinner at Walton and Frinton yacht club<\/b>.
September<\/b> Sailing Weekend (Solent).<\/b>
This event was effectively cancelled due to bad weather. Two of SOCA\u2019s south coast yachts ventured out but then returned to home ports without meeting up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commodore then ran the 2024<\/strong> AGM<\/strong>, going through Apologies, 2023 Minutes, Treasurer’s Report, finalising with the election of new officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new  Flag Officers for 2024  endorsed by the membership at the AGM.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 11th April. Dave Arnold<\/strong> will give a talk on his trip to the Southern Oceans including the Falklands.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Saturday the 13th of April 2024 SOCA<\/strong> will be holding a celebration lunch<\/strong> to mark the 40th Anniversary<\/a><\/strong> of its inception.<\/p>\n
